Functional Genomics Core Facility Technician (Ref. CF/25/09)
IRB Barcelona is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician (Research Technology Platform Technician) to support the daily operations of its Functional Genomics Core Facility. The Facility provides IRB researchers with high-quality services for nucleic acid quality control, Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflows, and advanced single-cell and spatial transcriptomics technologies. Equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, the Facility aims to empower scientific discovery by delivering reliable, high-quality genomic data and expert technical support.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to grow within the role, progressively taking on increased responsibilities and gaining hands-on experience with advanced genomic technologies and cutting-edge workflows.
Key responsibilities
Receive, register, and track incoming samples to ensure accurate documentation and traceability.
Perform DNA and RNA quality control using Qubit, Nanodrop, Bioanalyzer, and Tapestation, and interpret QC results.
Manage consumable stocks and purchasing, ensuring smooth operational workflow.
Provide routine equipment maintenance and support Facility staff in daily operations.
Ensure good laboratory practices and contribute to general lab organization and administrative tasks.
Assist in the preparation and execution of genomics workflows, including NGS and single-cell applications.
You have
Vocational Training (FP) or a University Degree in a relevant scientific field.
At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a research laboratory or Genomics Facility.
Solid experience working with nucleic acids, especially in QC assessment and result interpretation.
Basic IT knowledge (Windows/Office) and strong organizational skills.
Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a service-oriented mindset.
You might also have
Experience with NGS workflows (DNA and RNA).
Hands-on experience with single-cell RNA-seq systems (e.g., 10x Genomics, Singleron).
Experience in spatial transcriptomics technologies.
Prior involvement in multi-user scientific service platforms.
