Postdoctoral Fellow in Pathogenic Yeast Genomics (ref. PD/25/10)
IRB Barcelona is seeking a experimental Postdoctoral Researcher in pathogenic yeast genomics to join the Comparative Genomics group, led by ICREA professor Toni Gabaldón.
The Comparative Genomics group, which is jointly affiliated to the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC-CNS), is involved in multiple projects covering a wide range of topics including evolutionary and comparative genomics, phylogenomics, and metagenomics. Gabaldón group is also affiliated to the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red (CIBER) of infectious diseases.
The selected candidate will work in the context of several ongoing projects spanning from drug-resistance to host-pathogen interactions in the context of fungal infections. Focusing on understanding adaptation in emerging fungal pathogens, some of which are hybrids. The work will be mostly experimental and will include phenotypic assays, genetic manipulation, as well as single-cell transcriptomics, among others, and will involve close collaboration with bioinformaticians, given the multi-disciplinary nature of the project.
