Postdoctoral Fellow (ref. PD/25/09)
IRB Barcelona is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to participate in cutting edge research line -Regulation of the Retinoblastoma (RB) as a new therapeutic strategy for the treatment of cancer- of the Cell Signaling Research Group led by Dr. Francesc Posas and Dr. Eulàlia de Nadal.
Key responsabilities:
- Management and coordination of chemical compound screening as therapeutic targets, including high-throughput and/or phenotypic screens.
- Perform and optimize a variety of bioassays (biochemical, biophysical, cellular) to characterize hit compounds.
- Conduct in vivo and biochemical testing of compound activity.
- Independently design and test biological hypotheses.
- Plan, perform and interpret experiments.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team, tapping into the expertise of fellow researchers and external collaborators.
- Contribute to a culture of scientific excellence, efficiency, and teamwork.
- Contribute to other lab projects and to the maintenance of protocols and laboratory resources in the group.
- Critically analyze analytical results, participate in scientific discussions and in preparation of diverse forms of scientific communication (seminars and conferences).
- Participate in the project activities: meetings, presentations, visits to other labs, collaboration, exchange of data sets, preparing project reports/deliverables.
- Perform excellent research according to the high standards of the lab and the IRB Barcelona.
You have:
- PhD in any of the Life Sciences fields.
- Experience in the discipline of oncology.
- Experience in compound screening and characterization of chemical molecules on therapeutic targets.
- Extended knowledge in culture of mammalian cells, molecular and cell biology techniques.
- Strong peer reviewed publication record
- Demonstrated ability to design and conduct experiments independently.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative person.
- Willing to keep on learning.
- Ability to work independently in a demanding research environment.
You might also have:
- Experience with animal models of cancer and relevant certifications or a certificate of competence for handling animals for experimentation.
- Experience in high-throughput assay development using e.g. Alpha Technology.
- Research experience in signal transduction.
- Experience with mechanism of action studies and Structure-Activity Relationship analysis.
- Experience with data analysis software.
