Scientific Coordinator (ref. LAB/25/07)
IRB Barcelona seeks to recruit a Scientific Coordinator for the CGI-Clinics Project to join the Biomedical Genomics Lab led by Dr. Núria López-Bigas at IRB Barcelona (bbglab.irbbarcelona.org).
We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual with teamwork skills to join Dr. Núria López-Bigas team focused on the study of cancer from a genomics perspective. The lab is particularly interested in the study of mutational processes in cancer, the identification of cancer driver mutations, and applying these findings to precision cancer medicine. In this line, we are developing bioinformatics tools with translational applications in precision oncology.
The BBGLab is a strong interdisciplinary and international research team with unique expertise in the analysis of tumor genomics data.
The candidate will perform the Coordination of all scientific and technical tasks of the EU collaborative project CGI-Clinics coordinated by IRB Barcelona. This 5-year project (Nov 2022-Oct 2027) aims to improve precision cancer medicine by building a bioinformatic tool to enhance genomic data interpretation and implement it in the clinics.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate a team of researchers and technicians.
- Coordinate the implementation of the EU-Funded project CGI-Clinics, internally in IRB and also with other national and international partners.
- Ensure that all the tasks and milestones of the project are achieved.
- Supervise the implementation of the CGI tool in clinical settings and expand its use in collaborations with national and international hospitals.
You have
- PhD in a life sciences-related field
- Experience in Bioinformatics or Cancer Genomics
- More than 4 years experience as Postdoc in cancer research or similar
- Experience in precision oncology
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- High initiative and capacity to work independently and identify and resolve problems
- Strong organisational, planning, and multi-tasking capacities,and ability to work to strict deadlines
- Strong leadership skills and proven experience coordinating a team
- Outstanding writing skills
- Ability to liaise with different multidisciplinary stakeholders.

- Knowledge of EU projects
- Experience in Coordination of European collaborative projects
- Experience in working in or in collaboration with clinical settings
- Good command of Spanish and Catalan
- Experience with bioinformatic tools
