Computational Biology Developer (ref. LAB/25/23)
IRB Barcelona is seeking a talented and experienced Computational Biology Developer (Research Assistant) with deep expertise in development and maintenance of (web-based) scientific resources to join the lab of Dr. Patrick Aloy at the IRB Barcelona.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Maintaining the SB&NB group's computational infrastructure, introducing innovative ideas, and ensuring technological currency.
Ensure ongoing system management and enhancement of the Systems Biology Resources offered to the scientific community e.g., Chemical Checker, Interactome3d, 3Did and dSysMap.
Leading the design and implementation of novel tools.
Serve as a key contributor on specialized research projects focusing on Systems Pharmacology, biological Big Data analysis, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
YOU HAVE
Extensive experience implementing and maintaining web-based resources and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
Education: Bachelor or Engineering degree in Computer Sciences or similar.
Skills:
Excellent Linux knowledge (compile, libraries, dependencies, etc.).
Excellent programming and scripting skills, with knowledge of Python, Javascript, HTML5, CSS3 and PHP.
Excellent knowledge of databases management (postgresSQL and Neo4j).
HPC queue systems, virtual environments (OpenNebula, Proxmox) and Grid Containers (Docker, Singularity).
Highly motivated, fluency in English and excellent interpersonal skills.
YOU MIGHT ALSO HAVE
• Previous experience in research environments and international teams.
• Skills: Background in processing of Omics data would be an asset.
