Your Role & Our Team
IRB Barcelona is seeking a dedicated Research Officer to support our Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics Core Facility. We are a team with extensive experience and a high level of excellence in proteomics. Our lab is provided with cutting-edge instrumentation and methodologies. We provide an integral support to reveal the role of proteins in multiple biological systems. We offer a professional and personalized proteomics service at the forefront of biomedical and translational research, being available to the IRB scientific community and to public or private spheres.

The successful candidate will execute MS-based proteomics experiments, contributing at the different steps of the proteomic workflow.
Key responsibilities
- Mass Spectrometry-based proteomic analysis: experimental sample processing following proteomic workflows, data acquisition using new generation mass spectrometers and data analysis using dedicated software.
- Execution and development of high-throughput analytical workflows for qualitative and quantitative clinical proteomic applications.
- High-throughput proteomics data analysis.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot specialized equipment, and optimize experimental protocols.
- Attendance and help reporting to users.
You have
Experience:
- In proteomics, both in experimental workflows and data analysis pipelines.
- In executing workflows for quantitative analysis (TMT labelling, label free, phosphorylation enrichment, PTM enrichment)
- In data acquisition in orbitraps and high resolution mass spectrometers. Experience in the use of specialized proteomics software (MaxQuant, Sequest, Skyline, MassLynx, Proteome Discoverer, PEAKS, Spectronaut).
Knowledge: A degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology or related fields.
Skills: In clinical samples proteomic analysis.
You might also have
Experience: Handling large number of clinical samples.
Knowledge: In modern proteomic strategies.
Skills: Organized and dynamic person, with initiative and highly motivated to work in a research environment within a Core Facility. High degree of work autonomy and good team worker. Willing to work for users projects. Good communication skills and fluency in English.

About us, the institute
Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona, a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence since the first call in 2011, has received the accreditation four consecutive times.
The institute is devoted to conducting research of excellence in biomedicine and to transferring results to clinical practice, thus improving people’s quality of life, while simultaneously promoting the training of outstanding researchers, technology transfer, and public communication of science. Its 29 laboratories and seven core facilities address basic questions in biology and are oriented towards diseases such as cancer, metastasis, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and rare conditions.
